I was asked to quote a file repair job for a student that had access to a 3D printer. To save him money (because we have a soft spot for students) I offered to show him how to prep the SketchUp file for free.
The model looked good in SketchUp, and appeared to have no reversed Normals (backward facing surfaces), but it contained an amazing number of open edges, which is typical for Sketchup Models.
Depending on the type of model you are attempting to print, you may be able to simply send the model up to CADspan and have it take care of everything. In the case of this model, I would segment the model first to retain every bit of detail possible. Because this model is obviously a collection of separate buildings on a base, I would separate the buildings one by one and process the base separately, or slice the base in to pieces the carry over with each building. In short- You unzip the folder and your STL is inside.
The long version- In order to expedite the download process, the STL files are shipped to you in a compressed folder. As the name suggests, the compressed or zipped folder makes the file smaller and dramatically reduces your download time.
To uncompress or un-zip the folder:
PC- Right click on the folder that you have downloaded from CADspan and select "Extract" Follow the prompts and you will end up with an uncompressed folder containing your STL file.
MAC- Double-click the zip file and the file or folder will be decompressed into the same folder the compressed file is in. The new decompressed item will have the same name as the original file.
The CADspan toolbar is composed of seven icons. From left to right they are: Layerize, Unsmooth Model, Preview Style, Resurfacer, Import Geometry, Export Raw STL, and Thickness Calculator.
Layerize - This tool blows through SketchUp's groping and component hierarchy to take a selection and apply it to a selected layer. If you are familiar with the layer controls in other modeling packages, SketchUp's decision to have the layer of a component or group override the surface or line layer selection can be a bit confusing. The Layerize tool helps users blow past this hierarchy so that you can dictate a section of a model to be placed on "Part 1" and the rest of the model on "Part 2" so that you can easily segment your model to upload it to CADspan in intelligent, contiguous sections, rather than sending it in bits and pieces dictated by groups.
Caution: this is not easily undone. Saving your model as Project_Layerize.skp is a good idea before using this tool.

To install a SketchUp Ruby plugin script with the .rbz format:
Select Window > Preferences (Microsoft Windows) or SketchUp > Preferences (Mac OS X). The Preferences dialog box is displayed.
Click on Extensions. The Extensions panel is displayed.
Click on the Install Extension button. The Open dialog box is displayed.
Locate the Ruby zip file to install (.rbz).
Click on the Open button. The Ruby plugin appears in the list of extensions.
